My push over lifemate

Last week, my lifemate and I had to walk down the block to the post office. On the way, sitting on the side of the side walk was a homeless guy. I felt bad for him and told my husband to give him some money. My lifemate walked over and gave him two dollars which was VERY generous. The man just took it and asked for more saying it wasn't enough. My lifemate actually reached back into his pocket and gave the man three more dollars. When he walked back to me, I was really upset. First of all, five dollars is a lot of money when you live in a small two bedroom apt in Canada and have to pay the high rent. Second of all, the man didn't even say thank you. He just asked for more. Instead of taking the money back, or yelling at the man, or just not giving home anymore but still letting him keep the two dollars, he just gave him more. He hates confrontation and arguments. But this time he needed to say something. There are other reasons why I think he's a push over but it was a little ridiculous how he gave into a bum. I got really upset at him and let complaint after complaint escape my mouth.
